Vision and Strategy: from planning to execution
Planning is a preparation for future. Survival and success in future is the responsibility of senior managers and therefore process of plan creation and realization is the key process of general manager and her team. The reward for emphasis this team dedicated to accurate plan making are in the first place the achieved results. Parallel with plan creation a systematical prioritization is taking place, comprehension and acceptation of these priorities in managerial team is ensured, definitions of right goals and performance measures is supported. Agreement of managerial team about long-term priorities, annual goals, ways of achieving them and performance measures are among the key assumptions of success in following, even more difficult phase, in the phase of plan realization.
Process planning should be standardized, well-understood and everybody should know his/her role. Good planning process consists of long-term or strategic plan and from annual plan, which is based on and follows the outlines of long-term plan.
Long-term or Strategic plan focuses on the ways of achieving long-term success on the market by defining such products and services, which are going to be preferred by customer. The plan establishes framework of goals, which must be achieved. The goals are based on in depth knowledge of current situation, they are real and achievable, but demanding and necessary to ensure the survival, improvement and success.
Annual plan is the final step of long-term plan. Defines goals for a year and contains detailed description of ways how to achieve them. It also answers the following questions for every goal: "How?", "Who?", "Till when?" and "What are the resources?".
