Operator's Maintenance
Autonomous maintenace is the basic pillar of TPM. It aims at utilizing the operator's knowledge of operating conditions to predict and prevent equipment-related losees. Operators learn the maintenace skills they need through a seven-step program called Autonomous Maintenance:
- Clean and inspect
- Eliminate problem sources and inaccessible areas
- Draw up cleaning and lubricating standards
- Conduct general inspection
- Conduct autonomous inspection
- Standardize through visual workplace management
- Implement autonomous equipment management
The main purpose of an autonomous maintenance program is to equip operators with the following equipment-related skills:
- Ability to discover abnormalities.
- Ability to correct abnormalities and restore functioning.
- Ability to set optimal equipment conditions.
